Week 28 - Rollin in style....a different way!

Week 28 - Rollin in style...a different way!!!
(2/21/10 - 2/27/10)

This week Andrew was "Rollin" in style...but different from last week. This week Andrew decided that he was going to start rolling over....and CONSTANTLY!!! It started at the beginning of the week when I would randomly find Andrew rolled over onto his tummy, but of course I would miss it every time! Now I can't NOT miss it, but he now refuses to stay on his back and will roll over almost as soon as he hits the floor! He is getting pretty strong and can do a complete "push up" once he gets rolled over. I give him maybe another week and he should be able to figure out how to roll back over onto his back!

My little guy is growing up!

Week 27 - Ridin' in style!

Week 27 - Ridin' in style!
(2/14/10 - 2/20/10)

First let me say that I am the proud mommy of a 6 month old!

This week was a big week for Andrew, he got moved up into a new car seat, he rolled over three times (all three of which I missed!), and he is now sitting unsupported for over a minute at a time, and can sit for longer if he has the boppy or some sort of pillow behind him! Andrew is a funny little boy, in some ways he is just like his brother (content to just sit and watch, and not be real grabby) and in some ways completely different (horrible sleeper, waaaay more smiley!)

However I find that most milestones are being met at the same pace as his brother so my expectations are a lot less "stressed" than they were with Jacob. I remember as a first time mom worrying and waiting, everyday seemed like an eternity. I would be around other babies that were the same age and they were crawling, or grabbing for everything that crossed their path, or pulling themselves up to standing and wondering when my baby was going to do that. Well in the end Jacob did everything in his own time, and turned out just perfect!

It is nice to just focus on Andrew this time around, I am sure that I missed things with Jacob due to my worrying and am glad that I am not going to miss things with Andrew. I could care less when he rolls, crawls, walks, or talks I am just content to just watch him learn and listen to his laughs....has anyone ever not smiled whiled hearing a baby laugh???? Bet you can't NOT smile after watching this!

Week 26 - MMM MMMM.....YUK!!!

Week 26 - MMMM MMMMM.....YUK!!!!
(2/7/10 - 2/13/10)

This week we tried to give Andrew a little bit of rice cereal and like most babies the first meal was not exactly met with open arms.....I mean mouths!! There is no real reason as to why I started feeding a little bit of cereal, Andrew is still nursed and seems to be thriving on just that form of food. However we have still be plagued with bad nights of sleep and I thought that now that Andrew is almost 6 months old maybe a little bit of food right before bed could help him stay asleep longer.

It seemed to work the first night, although I probably only got about a 1/2 teaspoon into him tummy. We have worked our way up to maybe a teaspoon to a teaspoon and a half at each feeding, but hopefully he will start eating better soon. It is a chore to get him to even open his mouth and we have to sit and make funny faces and make weird noises just to get him to start laughing/smiling and then BAM!!!! We shove the food in his mouth and hope that a little bit of it actually makes it down his throat!

I think I might have to start on real food, like sweet potatoes or apples because this rice cereal just isn't cutting it in terms of taste for Andrew!

Week 25 - Blizzard 2010!

Week 25 - Blizzard 2010
(1/31/10 - 2/6/10)

This week there are two things that I need to talk about, first is the Blizzard of 2010 and second is the new found "curiosity" that Andrew has with everything and ANYTHING involving his brother!

We got 3 inches of snow last weekend, 5.5 inches of snow on Tuesday and now we just finished up getting 33 inches of snow in the Blizzard of 2010. Considering that Andrew is only 28.5 inches tall I don't think he would have much fun in this snow if he could walk. The drifts are pushing the 45+ inch mark and the picture below is a picture of our car when all of the snow was said and done.....yes that is a car under all of that snow SOMEWHERE!!

Now onto the more important things about Andrew, and what he was up to this week. He is now almost 6 months old so like his brother when he was this age Andrews sole purpose in life is to try and sit up. It actually makes for a quite annoying time when trying to "cuddle" with him because he is always trying to do his little baby situps and get himself upright. When I need to cook, or clean, or just need a break from carrying around a 22 pound baby (yes you read that right....22 pounds) I put Andrew in his baby seat. Normally this is just fine in moderation and he will sit and watch me or I will put the toy bar onto the seat and Andrew will swat and pull on the different toys that are hanging. The other day however was a different story, Paul and Jacob were on the floor playing in his rice box (I will talk about that on Jacobs blog soon) and Andrew just couldn't stand it....he HAD to be right in the thick of things.... he just L-O-V-E-S his brother and has to watch every move he makes. This day was no exception. Boy I hope Jacob is ready to be followed around here in a few months!

Can't you just see the wheels in Andrews head as he is watching them play? He got up into that sitting position because I had the toy bar attached and he pulled himself up through the bar, and then when I saw he wasn't going to lay back down I moved him closer to the action and removed the bar! Boy is my little boy growing up!!!!
